Atlantic Energy Overpaid Gas, should I wait for refund?
Hi all
I am with Atlantic energy for Gas and Electric and have been for a couple of years now. Each year, after my 12th Direct Debit payment, they refund me one month's payments. This year I have massively overpaid on my gas account (reduced consumption, insulated, kicked out layabout ex husband who stayed home all day running up bills), and they owe me £406, which the bill says they will carry over until next year (ha ha, don't think so matey, I'm having it back). I am not due for my loyalty rebate until September. From the wording on the bill, it seems like they calculate the loyalty rebate based on your monthly direct debit payments, not your actual usage. In which case, it seems I would be better waiting until September to ask for my overpayment back, and to change my monthly direct debit amount to something closer to my useage (about £35 per month less according to their calculations). Does anyone know if I am reading this correctly? Or might they just calculate my rebate based on my useage.
I just have a smile on my face thinking that I might be making some money out of them for a change, if you see what I mean.

They have always just refunded me money if I've asked and paid loyalty bonus as well. There customer services are very good so probably worth giving them a ring. As far as I know the rebate is based on paying by direct debit not paying a specific amount of direct debit each monthSealed pot member 735

If you ensure your latest bill is done to an actual read then they will gladly refund your credit. The rebate is based on 12 consecutive DD payments regardless of usage or credit/debit. They will also lower your DD to the correct amount. They have really good customer service so just give them a call.0
