Thankyou all so much for your help :)

The only other thing I can think of that *might* have caused this is the e-commerce software he uses to build people's websites with (zen cart) so when he gets back into his house I'll tell him to look at that too AND get an apology for being yelled at for messing up his PC!

No problems on firebox.com or link from Mse and on searching Google etc. no matches found for Win32/Gaelcum.A so not a virus I'm sure.

The Public folder in Windows Vista is used for sharing folders and files with people on the same computer or the same network so probably nothing to worry about. AVG false positive ???

Tell ex to ditch AVG. Use removal tool http://www.avg.com/gb-en/download-tools
    and install free version of

AVAST, AVIRA or MICROSOFT SECURITY ESSENTIALS

Umm you missed an 'I' in the virus name: Win32/Gaelicum.A

It brings up some results that I'm just looking at in google :)

  • Never know! :D

There were quite a few 'testers' last week for a queried website. Although the list of testers did include alienRIK!

And let's make sure it isn't a positive virus first! Then ditch AVG...
