SECC Help please

I have won tickets for Rod Stewart at the SECC on Monday. I am meeting up with someone there and we would like to go for a meal first. I am looking for help with a couple of questions please.

I would like to meet late afternoon - perhaps about 4pm. What time could I park at the SECC for an evening concert?

Where is good to eat? I had intended going to Grassroots as the person I am meeting is vegetarian. Sadly I saw from their website that the cafe has closed.

I would prefer somewhere close to the SECC.

Thanks :)

I had thought of this as much easier, but am worried about getting the train home in time. Do you know when it ends?

Tha japanese place is lovely, I am veggie and enjoy it, but I have a few veggie friends who won't eat in Japanese places at all, so best double check with your friend if they are OK with that. Where you eat depends on how far away you are happy to go, there are a few places over the water at Springfield Quay, that's probably a fifteen/twenty minute walk I would think, and there are a few places where you could use vouchers there. Off the top of my head there's China Buffet, Ask (I think), Nando's Chiquita and Frankie and Benny's and some sort of beefeater type place too. Its also only two train stops from the city centre, where there are lots of great places to choose from.

Yen is lovely but is likely to be busy if there is a big concert on, so you should probably book a table if you fancy it. The Teppenyaki part is downstairs and I haven't tried it, but upstairs is an Oriental restaurant serving Thai, Chinese & Japanese. I recommend the Thai Sweet & Spicy Prawn or Chicken or the Thai Green Chicken Curry, delicious!!
As well as the places Jackieglasgow mentioned at the Quay, there is also the Italian, La Fiorentina at Paisley Rd Toll, which is near the Quay and it's really nice too. As for parking, if you want to park in the SECC car park, I would imagine you can go at any time, but I think it's pretty dear.

The last time we went to a gig at the SECC, we left it quite late, and couldn't get a table anywhere near and ended up at Burger King. I definitely suggest you book somewhere. Enjoy!

The 78 isn't too far away and it does vegan food http://www.the78cafebar.com/
The India Quay is nearby and I liked it a lot when I was there http://www.indiaquay.com/index.htm

Thanks so much everyone. I really appreciate the help :)

I am wondering about the parking options. What is my best bet? I usually take the train as the roadworks at Cumbernauld make it a horrible drive. However my sister is coming up from Yorkshire and is spending 2 nights with me, so will have luggage. I am bringing the car to give her somewhere to leave her bags.

Is the SECC my best bet? At a whopping £6 it is really expensive. I am hoping to get through about 4pm (getting boiler serviced so depends when that is done). My sister is going to get the train from central to the SECC/ India Quay and meet me there. I have just booked the meal for 5pm.

I've never had to park around there myself as I just get the bus but a lot of people just park across the water on Govan Road and then walk over the Bells Bridge to get to the SECC. There are also side streets nearby the SECC/around the Skypark area that you could also park on. However, with both of these I would spend my time at the concert worrying about whether the car was still ok...on the other hand I've seen loads of cars parked in those places and they have been fine, so it's up to you. The SECC also have a cloakroom if you wanted to store luggage at £1 an item but if you've got a few bags and coats to go in it would probably end up cheaper just parking in their car park.
