It looks cheap looking on their website however would get costly after 30 minutes, which most people would want it for an hour to two I would think at least.

Would work out cheap for trips under 30 minutes, but over that more than a few times it'll start mounting up fast

I had a leaflet or some information earlier on this summer which iirc said something along the lines of 'if you want to use a bike for half or a whole day then you might be better off renting from a traditional bike hire place'. However, the leaflet I have to hand has a 'hint' that "you can ride all day for £1 if you make multiple journeys of under 30 minutes each".

I have to say the Stockholm hire scheme was much better. Buy in advance, 3 days for about £25 which is cheap for bike hire, especially in Sweden. You had to re-dock every 3 hours though which involved a bit of planning for longer trips.

    Which compares prices across Europe.

Rochelle Turner, Head of Research at Which? Holiday says,
'Although, at first glance, London isn’t as set up for cycling as other cities around the world, there are actually many miles of traffic-free cycle routes and traffic-calmed areas. The biggest challenge for those who fancy a longer journey, may be in finding a new bike along your route every 29 minutes, so you don’t rack up extra (often hefty) charges.'

I used the service today and was very impressed by the way it worked.
You have to give the bike quite a pull to get it off the stand but after that it was all very smooth.

I'm not a regular cyclist so am not used to London's roads. When I was in the blue cycle super highways I felt safe but as soon as I ventured on to the normal roads it was fairly scary. I guess I'll get used to it over time.

The bad thing is that the point I raised at the beginning about being charged for every key every time is correct so we have had to cancel one card and register independently. Whatever you do don't get 4 cards for your friends and family unless they will all be with you every time you want to go for a ride!

The bikes don't have a full chain guard so the chances of getting trouser legs caught are high.
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.

Not sure where you are from but quite a few LAs offer heavily subsidised lessons which will cover road skills, do a search for cyclng on your LA's website

After one day, I found myself stuck behind 3 of these bikes. They are very slow and kept holding up the cycle lanes. I do hope that the fitness of the riders improves otherwise as tonight you'll find more cyclists leaving the cycle lanes.

I did, I left the 2 way cycle path and rode in the road, safely out the way of them.
