PaydayUK Scam

Ok so i'm worried i've just had my identity stolen.

I was on the PaydayUK website appying for a loan. I put in all my details, and went to the next page, which asked for my account number, sort code and even my NI Number.

Anyway i was daft enough to give them it. tried to go to the next page, and instead of being told if i have the loan or not, the loan finder website came up. It said they had created an account for me, had all my details, including the loan amount i asked for, and stated i had to pay £29.78 to them for finding a loan.

I rang up PaydayUk to find out what the hell they think they are playing at, and they say they don't have any record of me applying for a loan, and also reckon they don't ask for NI numbers.

I said i'm looking at the page now, and its asking for my NI number, and says PaydayUK.

what should i do?

    Hi Julio

I would phone your bank's Fraud Dept asap, explain what's happened and ask for their advice.

You may have to open a new account, or they may be able to change your account numbers. You should cancel your card, especially if you provided your 4 digit security code or you use your DOB as your code...

    Good luck, Kimso

I don't think it matters what page comes up.

No matter what it said, you were happily throwing money away. It's no wonder more sites are jumping on the bandwagon.

My point is, there never WAS going to be a loan for you. does it matter who you gave it to??

either way, you aren't going to get it back in a hurry.

No it just asked for my account number and sort code. the NI number was the strange part, and even stranger how paydayuk said they don't ask for that, but it was there on the site.

I even suggested they may have been hijacked.

    I have replied to you.

PayDayUk have finally admitted, they do indeed ask for a national insurance number, if they can't accept you for a loan. and they do pass you onto other companies.. including loan finder.

I think i'll stick with Wonga.com from now on.
