Request for readings sent to me - I don't have an account!
Hi Hope someone can offer words of advice.
I have received today a request to send meter readings to British Gas, for Gas & electricity on a property that is nothing do with me and never ever has been, at the other end of the country but the bill holder has the same initials and surname as I do.
I have a HomeCare agreement with British Gas but have never had any power supplied by them.
Clearly there has been a mix up with some system somewhere -
Any thoughts ?

Write, don't phone. This looks like one of those issues which might not go away. Tell them that you are unable to assist, as you know nothing about the property in question. Keep a copy - this might well haunt you for a while.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. I remember many years ago we had a British Gas meter reader knocking on our door at about 7:30am one morning asking to read the gas meter.
My old man answered the door (it was early, he was the only one up and rushing to get ready for work) and responded "We ain't got no f***ing gas!" and slammed the door in his face.
Never heard from them again."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -
The request came via email, I have phoned and spoken to Customer services, who couldn't tell me how it had happened, and have placed an 'off shore data request' to get my details removed from the other persons account.
I'll drop them a letter asking for confirmation of their actions.
With the information that I have been sent from British Gas, it doesn't take a genius to see that I now have several pieces of legitimate information about another individual..........makes me wonder who has got hold of information about me
Thanks for your replies.0
