Hi
I've already been helped on hotels in York. Now looking to find a top notch restaurant in York.
Ideally one that has a nice Chefs tasting / sampling menu for a reasonable cost.
Anybody know of any? Ideally pretty central as we will be staying in the town centre.
Thanks

Have been there several times and enjoyed each as much as the last. My girlfriend still raves about it and the last time we went was a year or so ago (I don't live in york hence the lack of visit!)
Menu changes regulary and it is a relaxed atmosphere too.0 -
Thanks - website is a great help - like the sound of their grazing menu by night0

We lived in York for around six years and our favourite restaurants were:
J Bakers as already mentioned
The Blue Bicycle
Also if you do decide to venture a bit further out:
The Rose and Crown in Sutton on the Forest was always lovely.
Also, the Yorke Arms at Pately Bridge
or for a very special night the Box Tree at Ilkley.
Hope you have a lovely time in York.0 -
love the Blue Bicycle.
Also Meltons and Meltons Too.
\enjoyed Lime House restaurant on Goodramgate:jFlylady and proud of it:j0 -
Can I recommend El Gaucho, Argentine steak house which cooks fantastic food. Don't recall a sampler menu, but a must if you like good food and a lovely atmosphere! You can bury a lot of troubles digging in the dirt

I've to Ate o Clock, it was lovely food and they did a special pre 8pm offer where you got free wine with your meal. Nice atmosphere, but not super dressy.0

well we've been to York - we opted for the Blue Bicycle.
Fantastic food - we had a great night.
Didn't cost as much as we only had the one bottle of wine!
Thanks for all your input.0
