Colour scheme arrrrah headache?

Well are getting married in 2012 and at this rate will be undecided on the colour scheme. 1st we like orange and black then it was black and hot pink and now I like mint green but have been told its bad luck to have green at a wedding so what to do?

  • It's all about personal taste, decide on your favourite but also try to think practically, in terms if being able to get things in your colours. But I have known lots of people have green and it wasn't unlucky for them!
  • You've got plenty of time to decide, it wouldnt surprise me that even if you decide now you'll change your mind again next year.
I know its exciting to have everything organised now but you might find that you book somethign specific now and are stuck with it in 2 years time when you've seen something you absalutely love and can't have

i'm having a green wedding dress - so am adamant that it's not unlucky!!! haha.

green is symbolic of nature so if you want green, have it and look at it that way!! :)

Its a bit too early to think about colour themes as there is bound to be something that takes your fancy more closer to the time but if you have already made a decision then you can find that you are stuck with it and cannot change.

Somebody told me purple was a colour of death but I'm wearing it at my wedding :)

I bet there is a 'saying of doom' for every colour ever thought of. :rotfl::rotfl:

I've been engaged and wedding planning for 3 years (seriously, ask me anything lol) and I have *never* heard that green is unlucky for a wedding.

In fact, Google tells me that it's an unlucky dress colour to be married in and NOT that it is an unlucky theme. I thought it was nonsense because if you think about wedding "themes" are relatively modern.

"Married in White, you have chosen right,
Married in Blue, your love will always be true,
Married in Pearl, you will live in a whirl,
Married in Brown, you will live in town,
Married in Red, you will wish yourself dead,
Married in Yellow, ashamed of your fellow,
Married in Green, ashamed to be seen,
Married in Pink, your spirit will sink,
Married in Grey, you will go far away,
Married in Black, you will wish yourself back.".

Not that I believe in any of that, but hopefully will put your mind at rest.

The best way to look at themes is

You only have to read the comments from brides on here once they've had their wedding, saying how much they're missing all the planning. That's half the fun of it. Aside from the feeling I still haven't done much I'm already feeling kinda sad that the planning time is getting less cos it's fun!!
I got engaged August 09, getting married October 11...a colleague at work got engaged 3 months after me and was married 6 months later. I'm a wee bit smug that I've got so much more time to enjoy it all than she did :)
Enjoy it - as it gets nearer it will go far too quick. And I do also speak from experience as I've been married before - had a 10 month engagement last time and really missed it after the wedding was over

Wedding planning waxes and wanes - trust me. It might consume you for 3 months but you'll almost forget about if for the next 4 months... Until it starts all over again :D
    I love surprises!
