New Boiler?

Can somebody pleeeease help me, before I jump off the nearest high building?!! I am simply trying (in vain) to get one of the utility companies to tell me how much their combi boilers cost!

It really shouldn't be this difficult. My boiler is sadly defunct and I need a new one urgently (ie now). I have spent the whole morning on the phone to British Gas, nPower etc., trying to get them to at least tell me the range of costs. Every one of them wants to send somebody to my house and each of them has said they will get their "local" sales adviser to call me. British Gas could only tell me theirs started at around £1,700 and that's the only actual sum I've heard so far. I've not received a single call yet and, since it's now Friday afternoon, I'm unlikely to get a call now. I don't want a string of different guys coming to my house (not least because I'll have to take even more time off work), so before I invite anybody, I'd just like to get at least a ball-park figure, so I can decide where I'll get the best value. I've chosen the utility companies because I think I might get a better warranty and after-care service, so I am prepared to pay (just a little) more for that.

Can anybody tell me whether they've had a new combi boiler fitted recently and how much it cost? Any clues as to good deals with a warranty would be appreciated. Thanks

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Had a Baxi combi installed at my mums a few years ago and it cost about £2.3 K, quite a bit of pipe work and a new flue.
Any plumbing supply site will give you the cost of a boiler, its the fitting thats the variable.
Why not try a local tradesperson.
That gum you like is coming back in style.
