Moving costs help please

We're currently in the South of England just outside Southampton and are moving to South Wales near Cardiff.
We've had a few quotes for moving what is basically a two bedroom house to South Wales, both full service and packing ourselves, the quotes reckon about 32sq mtrs and for that they want £1300 to £2000!
Can anyone reccomend anyone that'll do it for less?
We're hopefully moving mid August.
Thanks in advance.
Total debt 2003 £29658

Debt now £ 21 but haggling!,Haggled now gone up!

Sorry,forgot the bloody card!!!!!!,was £6000 now down to £4896,now down to £3198,now £2756!

Can you drive? Get a large van and do it yourself in a weekend, is there anyone that can help you?

depends which side of southampton you are, but I used Winchester Removals recently.

From personal experience, i'd say to keep clear of Whites as I found them to be rip off merchants.
Mortgage free as of 10/02/2015. Every brick and blade of grass belongs to meeeee. :j

    Hi,

yes, I moved 35 miles away and they charged me £400 for a 1 day move. The other cowboys I alluded to wanted to charge me £600 and insisted it was a 2 day move.

The lads at Winchester worked really hard, nothing was damaged - I just supplied the tea and biscuits.

Well i live in Northern ireland with a lorry and 3 menwe charge by the hour £47 for 3 men £42 for 2 men if called over the phone. so we tell the customer to have as much packed and closed over, washing machines etc ready to just lift. but if nodody charges by the hour a move like yours would cost approx £250-£300. I have notice the prices in England are crazy for removals. but i feel i charge what i would pay for that service. Try van hire and even if it takes 3 runs or so your still saving.
