Travel insurance claim - Fortis

Hi there,

My husband and I both have Fortis annual multi trip travel insurance through our Alliance and Leicester accounts, have had it now approx 4-5 years but have had no reason to claim before.
In February we booked a holiday through a tour operator and also booked connecting flights (independently). in June we cancelled the holiday due to a family member receiving a terminal diagnosis, he had a long standing condition (not terminal or requiring treatment) prior to this.

I have submitted the claim and haven't heard anything back yet, just wondered if anyone had heard of something similar and what the outcome was? I know that some insurance companies don't cover for pre existing conditions but are there variations in this or does the fact that he had a condition automatically mean that the claim will be rejected?

As long as the long standing condition didn't need declaring (check your policy wording) it won't come into their decision.

(You won't "harm" your prospects of getting paid by asking them when you can expect your claim to be paid)
