google groups - how to hide email?

in Techie Stuff
hi, you know google groups? well when you click on 'view profile' on any particular thread you might have posted on, it displays your (or anybody else's profile you click on) email address in full. is there an option not to have this viewed by other people, because at the moment anybody can view it. hope this makes sense, and thanks as always

Prepare to receive some spam, better to use a made up hotmail address or similar in future.. Changing your reply to address can help, but it's a bit late now.

I've not seen an answer to this, and I haven't really looked with any enthusiasm, but is there a requirement to have a real email address on Google groups? Wouldn't nobody@nowhere.com be adequate?
