It's a fairly busy B road that leads to a major junction, if anyone knows the Brum area, it's Dogpool Lane leading to the T junction of the Pershore Road. Normally I'm hitting that junction at about 7.30 a.m so no traffic but am having new patio laid at mo so was late this a.m. coz of chatting to slabber. massive jam up to the T junction but on the right hand side of the B road are these two small residential roads, both marked no right turn. If you do a right, drive along them and then do a left, you come further up on the main road and avoid the T junction bottleneck. Being late for work and all that ........... my own fault and as a dedicated Moneysaver it galls me to think my carefully costed out patio is now going to cost me £30 more than budget. Wiped out me hours on t'internet finding best slab prices! Just call me Slab Nerb. And now traffic sign violator.

If you look at this as a moneysaver, and put a price on the time you will spend over preparing your case/attending court/boring your mates down the pub continually banging on about it/the hassle and worry it's probably moneysaving to send them the £30 than go through with your day in court to save paying it (but could well end up paying out a lot more and getting some points too!)

No right turn, as people have said, will be to stop you causing a queue in your own lane, or stop you crossing the path of the oncoming traffic. A U turn is BEYOND what a right turn is, and you will spend more time in the oncoming lane performing it than a right turn (just flicking over). I would've told the copper to pull over that van and handed over the £30.

Just phoned the automated system and paid up. What made me laugh was the cheery sign off 'thank you for using this service and goodbye FOR NOW' !!!!

    Thanks for all the advice.

At least you got a smile out of it, a £30 one but, I think you did right, and you didn't blame anybody else, apart from the slabber ;);) :rotfl:
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed

Its a single lane of traffic each way, Cannot do a uturn in that space.

Was it a 3 point turn or did you manage to do a u turn in the middle of the junction?

If that was the case i wouldnt bother appealing, You got it wrong.

If you were clearly past the junction and did a u turn which was nowhere near the junction
then it might be worthwhile, Doubtful.

As a professional driver, I personally would not have done a u-turn if I saw a no-right turn and vice versa...... unless there are appropriate road markings and a lane/slip for you to do that move without impeding other traffic.

Good move to pay the fine! It would have ended in tears had it gone to court.

Pay the fine, its £30 - it WILL rise if you elect to go to court.

Read the thread, the OP has paid the fine.;)

I'll bet most of the people who use the service *ARE* repeat customers for non-endorsable offences :rotfl: Just like I'm sure there's traffic wardens with stories of how they caught the same BMW 700 series parked up on the double yellows every day at 9.30am for the past 3 months :rotfl:
