Tesco Balance transfer - RBS group

I have a small balance on my Tesco credit card that I'd like to transfer to Nat West and take advantage of the 0% for 16 months offer. Does anybody know if you can balance transfer from tesco to Nat West ? The tesco card is offered by RBS so i'm worried that they won't BT and I'll waste an application if I do go for Nat West

thanks

Tesco credit card is still under the umbrella of RBS so I do not think that you'll be able to transfer balance between Tesco & Natwest
  • no, they are effectively the same institution so will not let this happen, same umbrella company!

I know they used to be part of the RBS group, but I'm sure I saw on here they were now part of Tesco finance and not RBS.

According to the stoozing website, Tesco credit cards are now issued by Tesco finance and not RBS.

So I'd say it's worth at least enquiring about.

I opened a Tesco Clubcard credit card just over 2 months ago.

It is shown on my Equifax report as 'RBS Cards - Tesco' so they're still very much linked despite Tesco having their own banking licence. They are definitely still processed and adminitered by RBS.

I suppose the best way to find out is to phone and ask them.

I can't find anything about it in the T&C's on the website, just that you can only transfer upto 95% and a fee of 2.9% applies.

Just called them and according to the customer service chap at Tesco Bank you can transfer balances to or from RBS group cards.

    Good to know.

On moneysupermarket it says where you can't BT on all the cards, but didn't mention anything for Tesco, so I reckon it is definately ok to do.

It looks like they still use RBS for some services though as the giro for paying via a bank still has the RBS logo on.
