Economy 10 and heating... .

I have an economy 10 meter so a day tariff, a night tariff and a mysterious third tariff. I understand that this third one relates to storage heaters but we have our storage heaters turned off (they're located in the kitchen and hallway, rooms which it's not worth heating!).

Can somebody confirm that this third tariff is just linked to storage heating? If I have my computer on at such-and-such a time, the electricity meter will know that it's not a heater and therefore will charge me on either the day or night tariff and not the third one? Is that right?

Assuming I've understood correctly, does my situation mean that it's best for me just to input my day figures and night figures into uswitch and find the cheapest 'normal' tariff? There's no benefit for me in going for an economy ten tariff...? Thanks!

Whilst you are on a three rate supply, it really will be difficult to switch supplier.

Best not to bother trying, it'll almost certainly end in tears.

Yes, the third rate is for your Heating. However, as Premier has already mentioned, if you're on an E10 tariff you'll generally have difficulties switching - not many Suppliers can cope with E10 metering.
Where there's a will, there's a way to get something cheaper from somewhere else!! :D

Thank you. So an economy 10 meter won't be able to work with just a normal tariff...?

A 3 rate supply wont as you have 2 MPANs.
