I have three raspberry bushes two years old now and have had quite a lot of raspberries from them this year. they seem to be over now.
Should I cut them back now? They are going a bit wild and not sure what to do with them!

Hi - you need to cut back the old stems right to the ground when they are finished.
The new green stems which produce next year's fruit will now be there, and you can take out those you don't need (just pull 'em up).
They obviously need tying in - but they're like weeds and they spread like strawberries, except strawbs put their runners above ground, but raspberries go under.
Hope this helps - but there's plenty of advice online.
Try Ken Muir's website.
Or allotments4all.com
And enjoy them - they increase each year!! :j:beer:

Thanks for that, I love them but dont want them to overtake the garden!0

Are they easy enough to dig up and move to a more convenient spot, as all my new shoots are where I dont want them!“Quis custodiet ipsos custodes?”

hi Dave
yes you can split off the runners from the main plant and replant them no problems - just remember to keep the roots moist after transplanting them,Greyer by the minute - Older by the hour - Wiser by the day0 -
hello..can anyone tell me the best time in the year to move raspberry bushes...thank you0

Cutting back the fruited stems is right if they're summer rasps but if they're an autumn variety then they are left 'til Jan and cut down completely as they fruit on the following new growth.I think Jan/Feb is probably a good time to move them but frankly they are such a robust plant I doubt you could kill 'em even if you were trying:)0
