Any Alarm experts out there?
My neighbour has told me that my alarm (armed) goes off every tea-time, for about 10mins, whilst I'm at work. There are no 'warning lights' on the control panel when I return and disarm.
My neighbour says he had a similar problem with his alarm a few years back. He said the problem was resolved by disconnecting the rechargable battery and he has never bothered replacing it.
Can this be the cause? What impact would it have in not replacing the battery? (doesn't cost too much, just out of curiosity).
Thanks
P.S. Alarm is a Veritas

most alarms have a battery back up. so if anyone cuts the mains power, the alarm still works.
same with alarm bell boxes, they have a back up system too.
if anyone smashes the main alarm panel off the wall, the bell/siren will continue to sound.Get some gorm.0 -
My alarm kept going off and I had to have to taken out in the end - the guy doing it told me that spiders nesting can trigger some of the more sensitive ones!0

You should not remove the battery but replace it. Apart from protecting against burglars cutting your power (easily done from an outside meter cupboard) the main point of the battery is to protect against power dips and spikes etc.
I suspect your battery is completely dead and at tea time something either in your home or nearby is causing a disturbance and your alarm cannot cope. (heavy tea time loading, something with a 'sparky' motor etc)
Even if there is a power cut my alarm won't falsely trigger, I change the battery routinely every 3 years, but you hear a chorus around here of alarms with dud batteries going off.0 -
FYI you can get replacement batteries from maplinChanging the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0

these peeps are correct. your bell box is sounding because it requires a new backup battery. If you decided to replace it yourself be careful, as the alarm may sound again when you open the cover.0
