Free heritage day out - would you pay full price?

We took advantage of a free day out at a National Trust property yesterday - and visited Biddulph Grange Garden in Staffordshire.

This would have cost us £5.30 each (adult price) and while OH thought this would have been worth paying anyway, I wasn't so sure. We spent about 4 hours looking round the gardens, visting the shop and tea shop. It is worth the money IMHO only if you spent the whole day there. I think many children would get bored after an hour or 2.

So - where have you been for Heritage Weekend and would you recommend it for a good (money value) day out?

We joined the National Trust for £51 for the two of us a family group is £54.75 for the first year if you pay by direct debit. We have already visited Kedelston Hall, Calke Abbey and Sudbury Hall and Museum of Childhood which is great for kids and you can visit any National Trust property as many times as you like in the year with free parking. Great value for money and also helping to preserve our heritage for the future generations.They also have special days for things like kite flyers.
