New to Scottish Power - change DD

Hi there

I have just switched to SP from Eon, supposedly to a better tariff than the one I was with Eon.

I have been 9 winter months on this flat and on average, bill in had, my average bill with Eon was £58. Besides, the first time I moved into the flat, Eon set up the direct debit to £90. I remembered having called them and they revised the DD down to £70 on my request there and then (I simply told them that I had come up with that figure based on the consumption of the previous tenant).

Everything is now set up and the first DD is supposed to leave my account in August. The only thing I am not happy with is the amount of the DD. They have set it up on £74. As I mentioned, the SP tariff is marginally cheaper than the one I had with Eon. So I know for a fact I will start building up loads of credit straight away. When I called SP and told them that I wanted the DD revised down to £60, the operator simply said that I had entered an agreement with SP when I put my details on their site and that they had based their calculations on those figures. I just felt that I was going nowhere with that 'customer service adviser' so I simply said thanks and bye.

My whinge is, have I made a mistake switching to SP or have I just been unlucky with the only SP operator on the phone who won't listen to their customers? The impression she gave me is that I didnt have a clue what I was talking about when I was the one calling bills on hand!!! Hasn't she realised that SP customers will have some brains?

Please, could the SP representative help? Because if this is the way SP treat the customers I have very little problem in taking my business back to Eon.

Thanks

What was your Kwh usage over the last year? If you know that then you may have a case to go back to them and ask for a revision, basically enter into the conversation saying that last year you used x and could they confirm the annual amount based on that level. Maybe esculate it if you don't get anywhere, but to do your homework make sure you confirm through a comparison site what the cost should be.
    Nothing to see here

To put it simply, you have made a big mistake moving to Scottish Power.

I have been with them 10 years and the way they treat their customers is a joke.

I will be leaving them once I pull my finger out of my !!!!.

    Hi finder

Hopefully I can help clarify our position for you.

Firstly, have a look at the unit rates you were being charged with Eon and then compare these with your new ScottishPower rates. This should confirm who is offering the better tariff. How much you save over the year then depends on how much gas/elec you use.

If you made an online application, we will have set your monthly Direct Debit at an amount based on the information you updated in your application. The Direct Debit payments will then be reviewed after 3 months. If we have set your Direct Debit at an amount that is higher than you were expecting, we can check this against the consumption details that you updated.

Can you remember if you updated your consumption in £ / month or in kWh?

Comparing your meter readings from 9 months ago with what the readings are today will help to confirm how much you are using.

    Kind Regards
