My Skype automatically update 2 days ago, and now new icons have appeared, one of which tells me: "Your computer is very slow. The connecction speed between you is slow."
How can I improve my speed and how did Skype update without asking for it?

I was not aware Skype had released any updates in the last 2 days. Can I suggest you scan your PC with Malwarebytes just in case it is a trojan and not a genuine update.

I had a skype update when turning on my laptop this evening so I think its real.

What exactly does Malwarebytes do?
And will it clash with Avira AntiVir Personal?

The connection bar (similar to mobile signal bars) is a value between you and whoever you are talking too. If you get a slow speed it might be cause of connection speed of both people, if your using the webcam, what other programs your using on the internet, msn , IE etc. I get slower connections when talking overseas than to local people via com to com.
