Gorillaz - tour dates cancelled / changed.

Don't shoot the messenger.

From their official site
Due to new tour routing the Gorillaz live shows at Glasgow SECC on September 8th, Newcastle Metro Arena on September 11th and Milan Forum on November 19th are to be cancelled. The Gorillaz “Escape to Plastic Beach” World Tour will now sail into Dublin on the 11th November, Manchester on the 12th, London on the 14th and 16th, Birmingham on the 17th, with a last show in Brighton on the 18th before heading to Berlin (21st), Antwerp (22nd), Paris (23rd) and then “down under”.

I'd arranged to take my lad to the Newcastle event, complete with hotel stay (non refundable rate). Absolutely fuming about this right now. Roll on fun and games with the ticket agent.

This is a big inconvenience for us, we had a non refundable hotel in Birmingham booked which thankfully have managed to change to the new date in November for an extra cost of £50.
Just spoke to some clowns at the trainline.com who wanted to charge me £40 admin fee to cancel my train tickets that only cost a total of £26. If I was dead or there was a natural disaster they would refund me but still subject to a £40 admin fee.

This was also a birthday treat for my birthday on the 9th september and now its in bloody November!! Not to mention the fact the original date was on a Friday night and now its on a Wednesday so we will both need to take extra holiday from work.

Me and my girlfriend had tickets for Newcastle date, we were coming down from Scotland and had already booked our megabus tickets down plus a night in a Newcastle hotel too (both non-refundable). In total I'm out by around £130, really miffed the band have just shunted all the dates like that and have left fans in the North of UK without anything! No shows north of Manchester is an absolute disgrace. It's just wrong that bands can do this with no reason other than maximising profit, what happened to honouring your commitments? We as consumers have no come back for claiming compensation for anything we've booked in order to go see them... Please someone tell me if I'm wrong...

If the law was changed here you can bet bands/promoters would think twice about doing this sort of thing if they had to refund for fans hotels and travel. This has happened to us before (The Police reunion in Manchester a couple of years ago). Won't buy Gorrilaz tickets again as this shows a real lack of respect for us northern fans. One lesson learnt is I'll be paying extra for a refundable room rate in the future!

I bought 2 tickets through Ents24.com for the now cancelled Glasgow SECC date (which came to a total of £107.75). I've received a face value refund only which was £95.25. Would I not be eligble for a full refund? (ie. refund of face value + the £12.50 charged in extra booking and transaction fees).

Any help anyone can give me would be much appreciated.

If you have your travel & hotels already sorted, why not still use them to have a couple days away in Newcastle
