Embarassing blunder costs me dear

I have an embarrassing admission which has cost me approaching £1,000.

I was using the services of an IFA called Perfect Day who went into receivership at the end of 2008.
I had a standing order which I thought was a direct debit and, therefore, didn’t need cancelling.
However, this was a standing order and I have only just realised that it has been operating all this time (shame on me!).

I have contacted the administrator and am waiting for a response to my request for a refund.

I recognise that I would have limited chance of success claiming as a creditor for funds submitted before they went into administration but this situation seems different.

I am surprised the account was still allowed to receive funds and also that I have not been contacted in all this time.
At best, it seems highly unethical for an administrator to accept payment for a service that was not being supplied.

Does anyone know my legal position and chances of success?

Were you notified when the company went into receivership?

If so, then I imagine you will just be on the end of a long list of creditors and thus slim chance. Have you tried contacting the receivers/administrators to see what they say? That would be the logical first port of call.

Any one know the legal standpoint?

OP already beat you to it :)
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride
  • Still waiting to speak to the receivers - hopefully will speak on Monday.
I am still kicking myself for being so stupid

If this money was paid after the company went into receivership , it shouldnt be lost
