...which is lucky sometimes.
I found an obvious account hijack (somebody who's only bought stuff in the past suddenly has pages of high value items such as Acer Ferrari laptops and all the auctions say "contact this Email address") so reported to eBay and also used "Ask Seller a Question" to alert the real account holder.
Later on I got a reply saying just

Fortunately the auctions were all taken down by eBay about ten minutes later but there's no helping some peopleI do not like your attitude.
Can I help?

There's no helping some people.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

I never walk through a door in front of a female, call me chauvinist if you wish but it was the way I was raised to act and I see nothing wrong with a little common courtesy to either sex, but some of the comments made have been mind boggling, at work "I wish I had enough time to stand around holding doors open for people" at the supermarket "what kind of wierdo still holds a door open for a woman?" and of course the obvious at various locations "chauvinistic pig" seldom a "thank you" though, not that I do it for thanks, I just do it it's as simple as that.Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.Together we can make a difference.0

Good for you, I do the same thing and as you say the comments I sometimes get are unbelievable  however I nearly always get a thank you and a nice smile from the woman and that makes it all worthwhile
I have to admit that if the door opens away from you, I go through first and then hold the door from the other side, I am not sure if this is the correct etiquette but its the way I was brought up to do it.0 -

Whatever you do, don't listen to these people. It's a curteous thing to do and they have no manners to comment on it at all!
I gave someone a refund on their postage, as I oversestimated it, and guess what, did not even acknowledge it. But that's common on Ebay.:wall:0 -
ben and king of the penguins....dont change some of us appreciate it, i always say thanks you, it is much appreciated by most of us:D0

ben500 - nothing wrong with your attitude at all, I do exactly the same. Unfortunately some of the comments you get are symptomatic of society today. Decency, respect, good manners and common courtesy seem to be on the wane (except with MSE'ers of course
).

Here here - I love it when someone holds open a door for me! And I always thank them.
I think what you are supposed to do, is open the door and allow the "lady" to go through first - however, after numerous times ending up holding the door for what seems like hours as, not only the initial person, but then an entire stream of people chug on through, with not a word of thanks, going through first seems like a better idea!!0 -
I read in a magazine letters page about a bloke who held a door open for a woman, and she said "You don't have to hold the door open for me just because I'm a lady".
He replied "I'm not. I'm doing it because I'm a gentleman".
I am just as happy if someone of either gender holds a door open for me, especially if I'm struggling with loads of shopping bags.
Most people I deal with on ebay are friendly and polite.
Today, I looked at the feedback received by a buyer who still hasn't paid me (I opened a dispute today because they haven't replied to a reminder), and someone had left them a neutral, saying "No response, No Emails and no payment. I hope you have not come to harm." I though that was quite sweet.0 -
OMG, people have been insulted because you hold open a door for them? I can honestlysay i cannot understand that. I do it all the time and have never had a tongue lashing!!
I think the day i do get a mouthful is the day that person is no longer in need of gentlemanly assisitance and would get a mouthful right back!!0 -
I once saw someone auctioning off tesco codes that had already been posted on here. One person had bid £3 so I sent an message to the bidder saying they were being ripped off and to try mse and got a short email back saying 'this is none of your business'.
hmph
Re- doors held open, I am female and very much appreciate it. Especially where I live where often even with my pushchair I find people closing doors behind them in my face, grr.Membre Of Teh Misspleing Culb0
