Can someone maybe answer a question for me. Owing to language problems at the present moment I thought i would ask here first before I attempt the shop
I am presently working in Thailand and got the internet installed at my apt as I need it for work. Had a few problems installing but eventually have got it working. In UK I was with BT and I entered the code number from the router as security so no one could go in and use the connection. Here they gave me a user name and password to enter on installation and a network key for connection.

I have now learned that all the network connection keys are the same number as my house agent connected to the network with it on his i pod. He has it installed and home and knew the key.

So that means anyone with the network key can get on to my wireless connection . Does this effect the security of my computer as I have confidental company information on it and would not like it compromised? I use Mozilla firefox

I hope someone understands what I mean.Ive been so frustrated trying to get this up and running all day my brains frazzled.

Basically yes, you should be able to access the router and setup the wireless network and password yourself and ensure nobody else has it, the other option is to disable wireless entirely and only connect to the router with ethernet cable

Ideally it would be better not using wireless at all, can you connect to your router using ethernet?
The other thing you could do is to change your wireless network key, to do this you need to know the ip address of the router, usually http://192.168.0.1 and the routers user name and password. Possibly admin and password.
If you find the make and model then googling should get the information.

Then relax and go out for a singha beer.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

If you change the key on the router you also cut OFF your laptop from accessing the net. Did this happen? You then need to update the laptop key when asked, enter YOUR key and away you go. Also make sure you are on https when connected to company network for secure data transfer.
