Make sure you stay between 60kg and 70kg. If the density is lower, then it won't give very good support. If it is higher then it will give very good support, but the slow recovery rate will make it very difficult to change position in bed.

As for the depth you are best with 2", or 2.5" absolute maximum.

    Hi Tim,
I don't know what happened to my post yesterday it seems to have disappeared :(
Just to say a quick thanks for all your advice on this thread!, i wanted to ask quickly in addition to mamazaac's post, is there any manufacturers i should look out for?
If you can't state this here, pls can you pm me. I am going to look at memory foam mattresses tomorrow, thanks to you i know the depth & kg i should be looking for but not who is known for the quality of them. I made the mistake of buying from one of the big brands few years back, what a joke :(.
    Thanks in advance :)

I'm afraid I can't recommend brands by pm either, as that could still be viewed as advertising. I am on here to give general advice, and to warn people about gimmicks and hype used in the bed industry. But I'm not on MSE to sell.

    Hi Tim,
Was not suggesting your here to sell!, but i would value your opinion as a fellow mse'r :)
In one of your posts, someone asked you what mattress you had (admittedly was some time back!), you said the romantica range. I was just asking if the ones i posted from ebay were anything like what if were referring to. I went to the shops over the weekend & the speel just exhausted me :(, everything you advised against (ie looking for double-sided mattresses, 2.5" inch of foam on springs etc etc) they insisted i was wrong.
I have a disability & just needed some guidance to buy something that would relieve me of some pain in my sleep, sorry if i made out you were here to sell, i know your not!
