It's quite a good machine, but it died nearly six months ago, and has just been sat with a water in it for ages now (been doing washing at mums lol), will it be beyond repair and should i get a new one?
Problem with getting a new one, the shop will only take the broken one away if it's unplugged and disconnected from the water supply, i'd have no idea what to do.
So
a) call out some guy to repair it fully?
b) call out some guy to disconnect it and get a new one?
c) something else?
thks

Is it integrated (ie fitted with a door to match your kitchen) or standalone? If standalone, unplug it from the socket, pull it out and there will be one or two little taps with hoses attached, unscrew these (should come lose with your fingers). Tricky bit will be the waste pipe (wider corriguated hose) as it'll prob be full of water, get something to collect the water, pan/bucket etc, and remove this pipe and put the lose end in the bucket.
Alternatively, try a scrap metal merchant, they'll come and remove it for free as they'll sell the machine.0 -
I would get someone out. I am biased as my BIL is a washing machine man, but we have washing machines in our family that have been on the go for 20 years +. Worth finding out if it can be fixed and how much for...0

Thanks for the replies so far.
If I call someone out (who do I call? not the ghostbusters I assume), how much will they charge, will they charge just for coming out and giving a quote, will they fix it on site or take it away? What if it breaks again? (a good reason why i want to buy a new one, with a warranty from john lewis etc)0 -
First of all, what's the problem with it? My washing machine has broken down twice, (not major faults) and both times I have just replaced the parts.Mystery Shopping MB and casino bonus' July 10 = £982.500

Buy a new machine , you could find that you sorted ( and paid ) for one problem .
Three months time something else stops the washer.0 -
If I buy new from john lewis, will they install it?0

Sounds like the bearings in my machine have gone - it makes a hell of a noise when spinning.
Is it worth a repair? Hotpoint 9 years old.Member #14 of SKI-ers club

No. Bearings are not the easiest of jobs, even for a pro, so is an expensive option.Eat vegetables and fear no creditors, rather than eat duck and hide.0
