Please can anyone tell me if these SDHC cards are any good

Options
We have just bought a Panasonic Lumix TZ9 (its a TZ10 without the GPS - from Currys)

I have found some cards that sound ok but not sure if they will be any good

We are going to Orlando and will wish to take photos and video the parades and fireworks. Don`t have netbook to load onto each day so will need a few cards.

Many thanks

I've found the own-brands to be very badly made. I have quite a few that are now read-only as the small switch has fallen-out.
However, I have a couple of San disk ones that have survived very well indeed. If you stick to known makes such as San Disk, Kingston, Lexar & Transcend you should be fine.

You need to ensure they are a minimum class 4 or 6 because of the write speed. I have the Lumix ZX1 and it wont write HD video to a cheaper 16gb SDHC card, so waiting on a class 6 32 gb and see if thats any good. In fact looking at the speeds they all look suitable.

Thank you all for thaking the time toreply, I appreciate your advice.

Am now looking at Transcend as they seem to be the cheapest! and better known. I need quite a few cards as its 3 weeks in Florida! am thinking of 8`s rather than 16`s then if there is a problem we don`t loose too much. Unless 8`s won`t be big enough to hold much..from what I have read and its lots and lots I think an 8 could hold about 1hr of video and maybe 2-300 photos but I might be wrong or would I be better off getting a couple of 16`s instead:question:

Transcend have 8g class 6 at £14.99 and they do a 8g class 10 at a similar price (my memory co uk) would the 10 be better than the 6. Also have now found Fujifilm 8gb class 6 for £14.99 because of your replies (thanks again) how might this compare to Transcend.

I have got to order today as we go in 2 weeks and I am starting
to really panic that we will end up with a lovely camera and no memory:o

Thanks again I really appreciate this

FYI - I have come across various places in Spain that offer to burn the contents of your memory cards onto DVD for a few euros. If such a thing exists in Orlando I would be inclined to to do the same then 2 of you can carry copies (1 has card, other has disc) which reduces any chances of loss/theft/failure etc.

I would spend a few hrs getting to know the camera and copying to PC before you go. Try out all the video and photo capabilities before the holiday so you will not miss anything.

Thank you all so much for your help. I have ordered 3 x 8gb class 6 cards and a card reader from the 7dayshop. I hope this will be enough, but could always get another one when we are on holiday if needed. (we also have daughters fuji camera and cards as a backup for photo`s)
