It might not have been me driving it could have been the Mrs I can't remember we were both on our way to work and we are both insured to drive the car, so I will have to ask them for the photographic evidence (from behind) cos if it were me then I wouldn't want to break the law again by saying it was her would I? It could be difficult to determine who was driving the car, then what happens?

You would have to go to court & prove you had used "reasonable diligence" in trying to determine the driver at the time.

Things like debit card transactions at the time for fuel, shopping etc. Basically anything you can think of to help.

The court doesn't do "we can't remember" & unless you can prove you have taken all reasonable steps to identify the driver it's 6 points & a large fine

This is assuming you can't identify from the foto's ;)

    Here they come ;)

Difference is I've done more than twice an average motorists lifetimes mileage both points and accident free. It isn't hard.

You've been lucky then :) (And I've probably done similar to you)

Still doesn't mean people need moralising and preaching when they ask for help.

True but the OP should man up and accept his punishment rather than moaning about the "injustice" of it.

Yes it is, some vans local to us are fitted with a concealed camera to the front, failing that the camera at the back can clock you.

Regards justice, I got 3 Points and a £60 fine from the Police in the post years back for doing 34 MPH in a 30 zone, was not offered a course instead and a fine as would have taken that.

I think now though I know why I was slapped so hard with 3 points and £60 was because the owner of the car before had got caught speeding a handful of times and lost his license!

The OP will have no choice but to 'man up' and accept it.

The fact that there was a speed camera out on a (I suppose) quiet road early on a Saturday morning gives the lie to those who claim they're for safety though doesn't it? They're revenue collection cameras nothing more and nothing less - and the OP will be paying what is in effect, a little more tax than the rest who've been lucky enough not to get caught.

I am quite suprised that you didn't get offered the speed awareness course. Have you got any other points on your licence? They only offer you the course if you don't already have points.

If you read the notice you got, it should give you a website where you can put your reference number in and you will be able to see the photographs. My husband got clocked last year doing 33/30 and when we looked on the website we couldn't beleive how clear the photographs were. It's a good job he wasn't picking his nose! He was offered the course but you have to take it up very quickly or you lose your right to it.

If you have the option of paying a fixed penalty notice instead of going to court then I would definately take that option. The fixed penalty notice is £60 but the court has the power to fine you based on your income plus there will be CPS costs.. You will also get your licence endorsed with an SP30, and you will need to notify your insurance company about this or you may find you will not be covered if you have a claim.

You suppose. You don't actually know, though do you?

No I don't know 100%, but I caught the drift of what the OP was saying.

Even if he'd said that in his post, we still only have his word for it don't we?
