Surely the most suitable option would be to get a job?

I would love to get a job, I'm disabledin crutches, dosed up on pain killers galore to get through the day, and unfortunately I can't tell whats going to be a good day and a bad one. More bad than good, (I had 2 bad car accidents), and I'd be a liabilty for most employers, then if I couldn't get into work and they had to find someone to cover cause lot of problems.

I'm retraining - as I can nolonger go back to my old career, mgt in catering, so am doing a degree in Business, and would hope eventually to find a work from home flexible job.

Do you care for your mum 35 hours or more per week?

You mother wont lose any of her DLA but she would lose the SDP off her IS but when you need enough care to need a carer 35 hours or more per week you need the care and so the loss is acceptable, you couldnt pay for much care from an agency for the @£60 per week SDP (forgive me if the ammount is wrong but Ive never claimed IS and my knowledge of the ammount comes from this site)

She's on pension, not IB, my dad is also on a pension, but earns too much for careers allowance, when she had her forms filled in for her DLA renewal - it was done for us through the social services, they if she got middle rate care and one of us (dad or me) became her carer, she would lose an element of her moeny.
I'm at home with her, - I don't physically care for her, bad enough looking after myself, but yes I do things for her, my father is registered as her carer thou he does not get paid.

I totally agree re the care, she can't be left in the home alone someone has to stay with her.

What made me laugh - more my single parent advisor, I'm disabled on crutches, 2 bad car accidents, and when I had my daughter, the pregnancy aggravated the injuries from the car accident, to the extent there getting worse than better. Yet there is agoverment advisor - saying oh claim carers allowance for her....... I need help and to me, it would be taking the mick out of the system.

EG - We lost my uncle earlier this yr, he and his wife were both on High rate mobility, high rate care, and both claiming carers allowance for looking after each other.......

This is actually possible an within the rules. If someone has a mental health problem and lives with someone who has physicl health problems, trhe person with physical problems can remind the other person to eat, get dressed, etc. and the other person can help them get dressed, shower, etc.
