Clarks childrens shoes

Options
I purchased school shoes for my daughter, Clarks 'YoToy'. They have lasted 5 months, and are in good condition except for where the plastic doll is housed in a plastic 'bubble' on the sole where they have worn really badly. My daughter is not rough on her shoes, they have only been worn at school and we don't walk to school either or wear them out and about. They cost £34.

I returned them to Clarks who have looked at them and said there's nothing wrong with them. Personally, I feel it's inserting this doll in the base of the shoe that's the problem - it makes the sole more vulnerable, we have never had this problem with Clarks before with their other school shoes.

Where do I stand with this please? I have a receipt showing date of purchase, and at the moment Clarks are fobbing me off. I have asked if I may have the name of the CEO as I wish to write to him/her and they are trying to fob me off with 'Consumer Direct' whoever they are.

Any help appreciated, I feel totally ripped off.

I wish my children got 5 months out of a pair of school shoes! I honestly think that 5 months is decent wear. When I used to work for clarks many years ago (saturday girl) we used to say that children's shoes would need checking every 3 months and due to the rate of growth then they may only get 3 months out of a pair. Yes they are expensive (and I refused to buy the yo toy ones due to the premium prices), but imo 5 months for school shows is decent wear. Plus it will be another 5/6 weeks before they are worn again and may not fit her anyway?

You say they have worn really badly... Are they so worn that they cannot be worn now?

    How old is your daughter?

    Have her feet grown?

    :)
Sometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...

I think those Clarks shoes wear really quickly too. My daughters lasted 3 months before they were completely unwearable and made a funny noise whenever she walked on tarmac. She hadn't gone up a size either and Clarks were completely unhelpful. I buy Startright now. They're much better.

In answer to your question, my daughter is 7. They have worn really badly on the sole, the rest of the shoe is in great shape. Personally, I think it's putting in the plastic pod for the yotoy doll to sit in, I have always bought Clarks shoes and they have lasted much longer, and generally we can pass them on in a decent condition.

I don't agree that 5 months wear is expected, years ago shoes lasted much longer. For what it's worth, I am writing to their CEO who may or may not be interested.

Hi I think we had a similar problem if not the same. In my case my daughters shoe had a little 'bump' in the sole where the 'flap' hinged, as soon as this happened (week three) my daughter complained that the shoe was hurting her...I took them a few weeks later. they did try to fob me off as it was over a month and they were obviously worn. HOwever I stated that they were not fit for their purpose as my daughter could not walk in them(she is a sensitive soul and feels every sock crease).

But as yours are five mths old I think that little bump has been rubbing on her foot so the sole has worn out quicker...
I would try again instore and try to get a good CS first and explain it to them -
In my opinion a shoe should not fall apart in general wear within 5 mths. (my Ds 7 and DD 8 always have clarks school shoes and most are freegled or handed to cousins if they grow out of them within 6mths.

    good luck
