Costs Per Unit, Where To Find Info?

Hi all,
First post here, be nice.:)
Just received the EDF letter ending my version 5 tariff, the same as many here. Spoke to EDF and asked them to give me the cheapest prices per kilowatt for the cheapest gas and electricity tariffs they have, but they refused.
I've used the price comparison sites before and of course they are good at telling you how much you "save", but they don't say what the energy companies actually charge you.
How do I find out what the energy companies actually charge per unit of gas and electricity used both for duel fuel and separately on their
cheapest tariffs?
Many thanks

Welcome to the forum, If you go to a comp[arison website like http://www.energyhelpline.com/ enter detail and then select the Tariff - on the right is a link 'more details' clicking this gives another page with full details of the tariff.
This below is for an EDF tariff - it is formatted better on the site.EdF Energy EdF (Electricit! de France) is the French state owned electricity company, and the group supplies gas and electricity to around 5.5 million customers in the UK. All comparison websites tell you what your 'new' bill will be.
If you use energyhelpline (and others probably) and click on the info button for your selected tariff the unit pricing is displayed. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Just comparing kwh prices is not going to find you the cheapest, all suppliers offer discounts for DD, dual fuel, paperless billing etc.
It is only when you apply all of these to the base price do you find out the actual amount per kwh you will be paying i.e. I could charge you 10p/kwh but someone else may charge you 12p/kwh but give you discounts totalling 20% which means you actuall pay 9.6p/kwh.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
