NTL/Telewest phone call price plan changes - 3p/min all the time

Does anyone know if this affects all customers including the one that are within their 1st yr of contract. Is it possible to cancel the contract if I am 3 months in citing their price increases like you can if mobile companies increase their call plans???0

Providing you are actually on this 3-2-1 tariff and its what you originally signed up to then you may get out on that grounds obviously specifying that the increase will have a detriment on your call charges due to the hefty increase especially especially off-peak. If you're on an inclusive evening & weekend, or all-inclusive plan then I think NTL are reducing these monthly tariff plans so therefore no - I doubt it.Saeed wrote:Does anyone know if this affects all customers including the one that are within their 1st yr of contract. Well it seems that as I predicted, Telewest are now going to be charging the same as well.
See Telewest's update page here. It states that 0870/0845 calls have changed but the prices on the .pdf remain the same. I suspect they've gone up to same price as NTL (ie 0870 is now 10p/min daytime).
TW/NTL must be THE MOST expensive teleco out there.0 -
scope wrote:Do like me, ditch the NTL phone line and get VoIP.. You will then be able to get a free incoming local number, and most importantly call out for free to UK landlines, most of Europe and other parts of the world.. And we are not talking to a computer, but to normal landlines (or even mobiles in some countries).
You do need an ATA (adapter) to get the most out of VoIP (make use of your normal phone, without needing a computer switched on), but these can be had from £20..
Save yourself a fortune, I have used it for over 1 year now, and my bills dropped from £20 or so every month to virtually 0. (and that includes 30% of the calls to other counties)
Hi where to get this Voip, is there is any link, and how does it work, any monthly charge0 -
So if you make a very short chargeable geo call at the E&W eg answering machine, your charged 6p connection plus 3p =9p Rip off!!!0

6p connection +16p one min call =22p. Exorbitant!!!!
Time to think about moving on,if you use them.0 -
At the end of the NTL Page of price increases
http://www.home.ntl.com/page/phonepricechange
it says
Please remember that after 60 minutes all calls will be charges at 3p per minute at all times Free local UK geographic weekend voice calls are still available for 3-2-1 customers.
Talk Unlimited Local, 5p Talk Plan and 3-2-1 are no longer available for sale
I think this implies that the 'free' weekend calls are still ok, as long as they are under 60 minutes. Anyone else think this too?0 -
Watch out for that word 'local' though!theradfords wrote:At the end of the NTL Page of price increases

Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
I believe it does but watch out as its only free local calls as pointed out by Heinz.theradfords wrote:I think this implies that the 'free' weekend calls are still ok, as long as they are under 60 minutes. Anyone else think this too?0
