Water has started coming through my roof this week and having had a roofer view it a large amount of slates are broken. I've checked my insurance who say as it can't be proven what has caused this they class it as wear and tear so it isnt covered.
As scaffolding is needed etc the roofer has quoted £1250 + vat. As it's a very old terraced property and may need re-roofer at some point in the future anyway I asked for a quote to completely re-roof. This was £3500 + vat (although he did offer £3300 without vat if I pay cash and said he would still give 10 year guarantee with that)
I'm going to try and get another quote now but does anyone with roofing knowledge have any advice as I'm unsure which direction to take and whether the quotes are reasonable or not?

3300 is very cheap. you wont find many cheaper than that.

What about the ridge tile which blew off in the recent windy weather and damaged the tiles on the way down?
Your roofer may notice this for you if he looks hard enough0
