Changing BT contract to avoid hike.

Hello

I wonder if anyone can help (perhaps the BT company representative?).

I am currently 6 months into an 18 month BT contract (I got this to avoid the £127.99 connection charge). Thus my contract is the 'special connection charge offer'. I currently pay standard line rental + £2.99/month (as get evening calls free as well as weekend).

I am well aware that in order to avoid the price hike, there is the option of paying 12 months in advance and reducing line rental to <£10/month.

Can this be done in my situation?, i.e. am I able to change contract to the weekend only package and pay the 12 months in advance or am I stuck with this contract until the end (or if I cancel after october?) I tried to change the contract on-line but it didn't seem to give me any options other than the contract I am currently on.

Many thanks

    Hi payvpac

If you already have taken up the connection charge offer we unfortunately would not be able to now provide you with the Line rental saver offer until your existing contract expires.

I am in a similar poistion though 9 months into a free connection charge contract. Hope it is OK to add an additional related question to the BT company representative on this thread.

I am not happy with BT and would like to terminate my contract early but have been advised by BT that currently I might as well stay because the termination charge would be equal to the full £27ish monthly charge for my broadband/telephone line for the remaining months of the contract . If I were to terminate my contract with effect from October would the early termination charge be reduced in line with the new terms and conditions - even though I have had advantage of the free reconnection?
