Nice country pub - Greater Manchester

Options
We live in North Manchester and have 2 friends coming to visit this sunday from Newcastle. I have promised to take them out to a nice country pub for sunday lunch but am stuck as to where to go.
I wanted somewhere with some nice scenery but all the pubs serving nice food near to us are on a main road.
Only want to travel about 20 mins away as they are driving us there and back and as they don;t know the area I don;t want to take them too far away from our house.

The Tandle Hill Tavern has been suggested but it seems difficult to get to.

Any suggestions?

May be a little bit further out depending where you are but Nont Sarah's has gorgeous scenery - it's towards Huddersfield and isn't actually far from main road/motorway but the pub itself just looks out over scenery and is lovely

Just around the corner from Deckers is Jacksons boat, it's a lovely pub, all food is homemade, not any of this frozen crap you get at most. The prices seem to come in the same as main chains too. The only thing is it gets really busy so I would ring up and book a table rather than just turn up.

Hope you have a lovely meal wherever you go x

The Old Silent Inn just out of Haworth is fantastic. Tandle Hill Tavern isn't difficult to get to - it's just a bumpy road. Deckers aren't really county pubs; they are nice though. Pack Horse Inn in Birtle (near Bury). THe Bulls Head in Ogden (Newhey).

I wouldn't recommend Jackson's Boat - it's okay for a quick dog walk, but the food is overpriced for what you get. (Unless they've changed the menu/chef since last year.)

The Windmill near Bollington used to be good, but I've not been in a while and it's probably the wrong side of Manchester for you.

Where are you starting your 20 miles from? Forgot the White HArt at Lydgate. We are Marple Bridge side and there are a lot of really good places near us but not sure how near to you that would be?
