Masonary paint supplier

Options
Daughter needs to paint a rendered extension, probably 100 sq mts in total, not been painted yet as only built last Nov.

I'm guessing a usage of 100 to 200 ltrs of paint

Anyone have an idea of a cost effective solution? There are retailers on ebay who supply in 20 and 205 ltr drums but the brands I'm unsure of.
Stabilising solution also required.
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

i always use dulux weathersheild masonry paint for all my jobs unless customer wants sandtex
do you really want to trust an unknown make from ebay?, unless you're daughter isn't intending to stay there
also if rendering is new it won't need stabilizing , just use thinned masonry paint 1part water-5 parts paint

was 205 litres a typo? If not think about how your going to actually pour the paint!
I'd stick to dulux weathershield. however shop around rather than just goto B&Q/Homebase. Try a dulux decorating centre or a decorating trade centre like Brewers. White or magnolia will be cheaper than other colours so i'd stick to those.

I know what you are saying Nick but the cost for 200ltrs of Dulux?

Unless you have a "contact", ?

Assumed the stabiliser would reduce the intake of paint?

So maybe a 1st watered down paint spraycoat would be effective.

I would use a dirty great big lambs wool roller for the job. Is there an option to spray?
    Cheers.

That sounds like an awful lot of paint?

Magnolia? not a chance, my daughter calls me Mr Magnolia.

205 litres a typo, absolutely not, it will be close to that.

I did an average sized semi a few years back, probably less than 1/2 the size of this. Been painted before. Took over 50ltres of paint for 1 coat, go figure.

Just read the last few comments, Lets not argue about the coverage, I will confirm what was used later, but under 100 litres, my lowest estimate, ain't going to "cover it". Forget what dulpex say on the can about coverage, remember the words "up to"

At least 4 folks stopped and asked how much paint I'd used, they didn't believe it either.

Now you may realise the issue, without offence of course, ;)

is the rendering reasonably smooth or is it pebbledash
i would have thought that if it is reasonably smooth then for 200lts -1 thinned coat +2 normal coats ( still good idea to thinned all coats down , not use so much water )it must be a huge house
the only time i've used 200lts is for a house which had terylene on the walls
    have you got any photos
you will have to wiegh up the quality / cost of paint - yes you can get some cheap stuff , but will it last as long as a recognisedbrand , you don't want to be doing it again in a couple of years time

It's approx 100 sq mtrs, see 1st post. 2 stories, gable ended, L shaped about 9mtr x 7mtr, rendered from 1mtr up Yes it's big and thats just the extended bit. Exactly why I posted, I have only ever used Sandtex or similar before but this ones going to drink it

dulux do some ready mixed colours that are a lot cheaper than the stuff you have to tint http://www.duluxdecoratorcentre.co.uk/servlet/ProductHandler?code=DDC10037
the colours are limited but if you aren't too fussy you could have gardenia from £21 per 5lts ,so that is going to be around £800ish plus i reckon you could ask them for a bulk discount , the dulux dec centres i've sdealt with are usually v helpful , i guess your daughter needs to accept that if you're going to live in a big house , you're going to have a big bill when redecorating , it's a fact of life
i couldn't reccomend any of the ebay stuff , i have had a look , but i always want my customers to know that i only use decent recognised quality paint that will do the job , i think if your duaghter lived in something smaller it may be worth a punt for the ebay stuff , but if you do the whole house and it's no good or doesn't last , then you've got a major job on your hands to put it right , you pay for what you get , hope this is of help to you - feel free to ask any more q's
