How to stop marketing mail when the company ignore your unsubscribe request?

Hi all
I wonder if anyone can help. 4 years ago I bought an item from company I found online via their website.
About a year ago, after they sent me a marketing email I asked to be unsubscribed. I heard nothing so assumed this had been done.
In March I got another marketing email from this company. I replied saying I had unsubscribed and could they please take me off their mailing list. I received back what I felt was an a rude and rather aggressive reply: 'You obviously haven't read the email. (Former owner) has died and we have taken over the business.' No 'sorry, we'll remove you' or anything.
I replied saying 'No I haven't read it because I don't read unsolicited mail.' (I would have said 'sorry for your loss' if they hadn't been so rude.)
They replied: 'There's a link to unsubscribe. You do it. I'm not doing for you.'
I replied saying 'I shouldn't have to as I have already unsubscribed' but clicked the link anyway just to be on the safe side.
Today I have received another marketing email from them. They are really p*$$ing me off now which I'm sure is the point.
Can anyone tell me how to stop unwanted emails from this company? I'm surprised they have a business their customer service skills are appalling..
Thanks

Add them to your blocked senders.
Also name and shame them on here to give them some publicity for their actions.0 -
Thanks Chr15.
They are on my blocked senders but I have to check the junk mail anyway because of my work.
I have replied to the email with 'UNSUBSCRIBE' as the title (the 3rd time I've unsubscribed!) as there is no link to unsubscribed in this one.
I'll see what they do and if I do get a snotty reply from them again I will be naming them on here.
Can I report them for Data Protection breach or anything? They shouldn't have my details as new owners anyway?0 -
In mail on a Mac is a great setting where you can bounce mail back so it appears the address isn't working. I bounce all the crap now and its really cut it down.
Not sure if you can do a similar thing on PC?0 -
Wow, that would be perfect, pulliptears! Hoping a techie reads this who'll be able to help.
ETA: Just found a 'delete from server' and 'do not download from server' option in Message rules.
Excellent! Still don't see why I should have to do this to stop them though.
Not going to block them yet as I want to see if they reply to today's unsubscribe request.0 -
what is your mail client ?
Look at their mail headers (and report them to their isp)
for info on how to do this, it may perhaps best to put one under Techie Stuff forum?0 -
Thanks, Nick. I can go into the properties of the email (so I can see who their host is: there is an unsubscribe link in there too which I copied and pasted which said I was unsubscribed but it said that last time).
Their ISP is btinternet.com and have googled this but can't see how to report.
Would you advise putting this whole thread in techies?0 -
From a quick google search it seems there is a program called "Mail Washer Pro" which enables you to bounce emails, though I have no idea if this actually works as Im no techie.
As has been suggested it may be worth asking on the tech board about it?0 -
Thanks for all your help, guys. Off to post in techies

Incredimail lets you bounce back to sender and have a good junk email filter
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride0 -
