We're now in late July and days are shortening. The growing season, for many things, will stop when the first frosts hit (October?).

Personally, I try to work with nature and accept that my crop choice now is pretty limited. My spuds are sown in March and I'd not tie up space now in the hope I might get a Christmas crop.

Try putting in some fast growing salad leaves to give an early payback, then sit down with a veg book and plan your sowings to make the most of the room you have, the time of year and ideally a rotation system to avoid disease and pest build up.
