Car insurance at 17 years old :(

Let me explain i am a newly passed driver less than one month ago i passed my test and my dad has bought me a car for doing so.
However the problem does not lie in the car but the price of the insurance which is a nightmare.
i have serched through about 5 price comparison sites and 20 individual sites altering all sorts of details but the price will not budge.
The cheapest price i have been quoted in my own name is over £3000.
This price is ridiculous as my car cost £1500 and i understand that the fee is for the other driver if i was in an accident but still anything closer to £2000 would be prefered.
Can anyone offer any advise or past expreiances would be duely apreciated as my Audi A3 is just sitting there staring at me :(

Audi A3? Well, no wonder then! Maybe you need to work out what cars are a lower risk and swap it for one of those?
I'm female, so it's a lot cheaper for us girls, but at 18 I had a 1.1 Fiesta and it cost £1100, and a Suzuki GSXR600 motorbike at £1500 a year.9/70lbs to lose0 -
I have checked the price for a renault clio insurance group 1 and the price is £2700 still0

17. 1.1 Ford Fiesta. £1500 (male though)
DirectLine.0 -
Normal advice is
Do pass plus
Add other more experienced dirvers
Get a smaller car
But basically if you're 17 it is going to be expensive especially if you are male.0 -
thanks ill check ford fiesta0

i have already tried quotezone but they are not the cheapest moneysupermarket helped find the cheapest insurer but the prices after quinn direct are very steep from £3000 to £65000 -
Make sure you have a parent or 2 as named drivers on your policy... that will bring your quote down.
Check the details of where you are parking the car overnight- if you live in a high risk area there's not a lot you can do but even leaving it off road will save you some money.
Make sure you're annual mileage is realistic, if you're only going to be driving around with your mates, you should be quoting for about 5000 miles a year.
Are you paying monthly or one off? Most insurers charge massive amounts for monthly installments.
The alternative might be to have the car insured by one of your parents, with you as the main driver. It will be cheaper, and although you wont be getting No Claims Bonus... It's age and experience which is more important, and once you have more of that you'll be able to get your own policy and start racking up NCB.
Pass plus always helps.
What cover are you going for? TPO, TPFT or FC?
Think realistically about the cover you need... with a car like an Audi A3 as your first car, you're going to be bumping it a lot so you'll want cover in case of major accidents etc. (Sorry but you're a 17 year old male and statistically you are going to either have an accident, or write off the car in your first year of driving... a nice car might be worth waiting on until you've got some more experience)0 -
