Transaction Charges

I have just booked a day car park pass for the Sonisphere festival. The price of the pass was £10 but they added on an additional £6.50 totalling £16.50. I used a debit card to pay so I don't understand why these chages are so high. They called it a transaction charge but i think a transaction charge of 65% of the transaction is a complete rip off.
How can these companies get away with charging such high amounts. Is there anyone I can complain to about this? I have sent the company an email requesting justification on these charges.

That seems an excessive charge! I hate it when you have to pay card charges and they make it the only you can pay.. it makes you want to sent a cheque through the post0

You have got a good deal by buying it like this.
The proper charge people will have to pay who haven't bought in advance is £20
Which would you rather pay?0 -
It depends on how the tickets are being sold.
Most concert / festival tickets are not sold by the promoter but by third party agents. The agents rarely get discounts on the tickets themselves and have to pay (or pay close to) face value. Despite that, they aren't allowed to advertise the ticket at a price higher than face value themselves.
To actually make a profit, the agents have to introduce booking fees - that's ultimately their only source of revenue. How much of a booking fee they charge is down to them but it naturally has to be high enough to cover their own costs and make it worth their while.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. They can justify and charge it because people pay.
the alternative is to travel there some other way and not park, or just not go.0
