Southern Electric
Can anyone help me with changing my tariff with Southern Electric. I'm currently paying £54 per month for my electricity but this isn't covering the backlogged bill from the beginning of the year or what we are currently using. I am currently on the Energyplus Argos tariff which I switched to about 3 years ago and to be honest I never use the accrued Argos points.
I spoke to someone at Southern Electric a few weeks ago who told me I was on the best tariff for me, however when I look online at their tariffs I am sure I can be on a better tariff.
I called again today and was told if I switched to the Go Direct 5 tariff online it would save me 24% (really!!! it's shocking to think I'm paying 24% more than I need to). So when I look online I can't get it to switch over to the Go Direct 5 tariff, any pointers on how I would do this and if this really is the best tariff to be on.
My current tariff equates to:
Energyplus Argos tariff 10.85 per unit
Standard Unit tariff 16.75
Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm not very good when it comes to utilities and getting the right deal for me.

Hi Miss J - You need to be searching beyond SE's present tariffs
Look at your bills and add up your yearly consumption in Kwh, (Same as the units your meter records), Look at the switchwithwhich web site taking care to use the drop-down menus to enter your Kwh over a year
You will get prices up from all the suppliers, and if you click on the 'Tariff' option it will show you the details of that suppliers tariff, side by side with tariff you are on with SE
Be aware that when leaving SE, you will get a final bill that includes all the debt0 -
Thanks for that.
As soon as my bill is paid off I'll be looking for a newer, cheaper supplier. In the meantime while I clear the bill I need to get it onto their cheapest possible tariff.0
