Warning ! - Scam emails from 'Amazon' and 'Ebay NOT !!

Yesterday, I received 2 emails, one from 'Amazon' and one from 'Ebay' both claiming to be security emails and asking me to click through links on the email to validate my details to prevent scamming.

The 'Ebay' one even stated that I would be unable to access my ebay account until I did so.

I contacted both companies via their web-sites to query the emails and both companies confirmed that they are not genuine and investigating.

Just thought I'd warn everyone.

    Swattie,

These emails are called phishing mails, I probably get between 6 and 10 a day on my various accounts supposedly from assorted companies. It's nice for you warn people but really there isn't any need as by the time people read this the scammers will have made subtle changes to the mails and moved on to a new data base.

According to Business news on BBC2 last year only about 4% of people even consider briefly that these mails might be real, so the scammers need to send tens of thousands of them every day just to get some returns for their effort.

Just be careful never to follow links from unexpected emails and like you did, send them emails direct to the companies so they can close down that particular trail.

For ebay spoofs send them to spoof@ebay.co.uk .
