5 easy ways to save money on your shopping
* Costs for a weekly shop are going up. But there are some quick and easy things to make sure you keep your costs down-
* Use money-off vouchers. Check out my voucher codes.
* Don't go shopping when you're hungry- If you shop on an empty stomach, you'll end up buying foods you don't really need.
* Do your Shopping Online- It is much easier to monitor what you spend if you can see your shopping basket cost mounting up.
* Grow your own- Start your own vegetable patch and grow your own potatoes, lettuce, cucumber, onions etc. You will save a fortune on fresh fruit and veg.
* Shop when products are reduced- You can often pick up some great bargains if you go shopping an hour or two before the store closes.
I've found that it really is the little things that help you make the big differences!! Shopping online will really save you some cash!!
Thanks SpursFan! I follow these sorts of tips as well - I also find that planning out my meals for the next week and making my shopping list from the meal plan has saved me loads! As for the not shopping when you're hungry, that's very important! It's why I never take hubby grocery shopping with me - he's ALWAYS hungry!! :rotfl:LBM 04/05/10 :T DEBT FREE 30/07/10 :j I made it!CHALLENGES: 0 bought lunches June or July

We've made our own lunches. It doesn't sound a lot but we were slipping into bad habits with buying lunch at work and it really adds up. I'm also working at home. I do this twice a week and it saves an absolute fortune on commuting costs.0

Having packed lunches do make a massive difference, ZD - I think I was probably spending about £20 a week on lunches from M&S, it certainly adds up! :eek:LBM 04/05/10 :T DEBT FREE 30/07/10 :j I made it!CHALLENGES: 0 bought lunches June or July

Morning all!
Great to hear your news Milly! And happy anniversary (I think!) SW!:p
A nothing day at home again today - no money and nothing urgent to do so I'm trying to find things to do that don't cost anythng and will stop me from going bonkers.:o
So today I will....- Walk the dogs for free exercise (done 1) done 2 now (one very long one to tire them out)
- Hoover downstairs done
- All food from stores (lamb kebabs for OH, not sure what I'm having yet) - have decided to have a mushroom burger, corn on the cob and new potatoes to use up the fresh stuff
- Clean living room and conservatory windows - swapped this for hanging out of the upstairs bedroom windows at the back of the house that are over the conservatory that the window cleaner won't clean - done inside and out:T
- Clean bathrooms -done
- Put washing away if its dry - nearly dry
- Wash down the bathroom tiles -done
- Maybe weed front garden if the rain holds off (not looking hopeful) - done and mowed the front lawn - OH can do the back where the neighbours can't see!;)
- Check banks -done
- Check quidco -done
- Do any surveys that come done 1
- Transfer money for boiler repair from savings done grr!
- Have a LSD (if not a NSD) spent £4
Will report back later to see if there's anything further to do (may pinch everyone else's ideas)
Have also walked to the doctors and then on to the chemist for OH's prescription - about 1 hr in all - and cleaned all of the mirrors in the house.
Have been watching 60 Minute Makeover and have decided on a colour scheme for the hall and stairs that desperately need painting - duck egg blue and a beige colour with a dado rail in between.
Haven't been bored at all today - too busy faffing about in the house, I aldo have a list of jobs for tomorrow that involve decluttering, cleaning and sorting things out. I have no money but a very tidy house! I have also ruined my nails in the process so that's a job for tonight whilst watching the soaps.:rotfl:0 -

Weeding the allotment, clearing son's garage and a trip to the tip. I'd rather be at work, and you all know how much I hate my job!

Well we didn't do any of the above - we went to Beaulieu.
Wasn't very MSE as DH paid for diesel, entrance fee and sweets and I paid for lunch and scrummy ice creams. But it was a fabulous day in brilliant sunshine.

Great to hear that you are feeling much better Milly, and happy anniversary SW - mine is next week, and will be 38 years. Now you DEFINITELY don't get that long for murder :rotfl:
Today:
Checked online banking - as expected.
NSD apart from station car park - the joys of living in a rural area when you are too old (see above) / knackered / unfit to cycle 3 or 4 miles before and after a day's work :rotfl:
Work boring at the moment, can't find much to do
HM meals from stores and garden, including lunch for work (the sandwiches in the canteen are even more boring that the salad and something ones I seem to take every single day, and a lot more expensive too!)
Seen to animals and plants
Read free paper on train
Embarrassingly short list for me today
