When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free :money:

Examples could be charging your phone up at work instead of at home to save your electricity, hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

So be proud of those small steps, they really are important :D:D

Goood morning everyone:beer:
Ahhhhhh we went to my daughter's end-of-primary production last night - it was fab:) She was a dancer and was on stage loads and looked lovely...it brings a tear to your eye...bless them, all on to secondary:o
Had my appt at the hospital too which went fine - he was very pleased and hopefully I should stay free of the Crohn's for ages, maybe even forever, it doesn't always return.
So, need to finish the 1st presentation today and this afternoon I'm going in to work to spend the time in the class i work in.

Ok, my list:
  • check banking - move tax credits to spending account
  • daily scratch
  • packed lunch for dd2
  • meal from plan tonight - chicken curry - chicken's been defrosting in fridge since yesterday
  • carry on with assignment
  • post lovefilm dvd
  • hoover lounge
  • tidy girls room
  • sort dd2's clothes/bag for leaver's day tomorrow
Ok, that's all from me - have a great day everyone!!:T
I really need to sort out a new signature!

Morning all. Good news on the Crohn's milly. I've watched a friend suffer for ten years so I do feel for you!

I've taken the day off for our 21st wedding anniversary. Twelve blissful months and another 20 years of hell - but we're still here!!

I wanted to do something special today. You know the kind of thing - a day out somewhere, lunch in a pub, long walks in the woods/beach etc. So what has DH got planned? Weeding the allotment, clearing son's garage and a trip to the tip. I'd rather be at work, and you all know how much I hate my job! :o

Anyway, so far today I have:
    • checked for surveys
    • checked banking
    • sent 6 eggs in with DS3 for a customer
    • fed and watered chickens and asked for at least 3 eggs today
    I will also:
    • do as little as possible
See, no plans really but just see how the day unfolds. Hope the rest of you have a good day.

    Morning!
Feeling wide awake this morning, had to pick up DD from ex's at 6.45 this morning (he works a long way away and has to leave early). So picked her up, went into work as it wasn't worth going all the way home, had a cup of tea and read the paper while she caused havoc in the workshop (!). Left work at 7.20 to take her to nursery and then back to work! Luckily this is only every other wednesday.

So my list for today looks like this:-
    - [STRIKE]Check banking[/STRIKE] still OK
    - [STRIKE]Go to Next at lunch and buy a new work top...I have 5 tops for work and they are all in the wash basket...I only ever wear white for work and so never have enough for a full load.[/STRIKE] Can't do this, part of the DFW lifestyle I have left my bank card at home!!! Will have to strip my bed and MAKE a full load of light colours. LOL, that's normally a job for this weekend anyway so quite MSE...
    - [STRIKE]Snacks from stores, though may need to buy a sandwich as didn't have time to make one this morning[/STRIKE] did have to buy lunch tho :embarasse
    - [STRIKE]Try to do some onepoll[/STRIKE] going up slowly!
    - [STRIKE]Try to make the most of a quiet workshop day, not looking good...not many jobs in[/STRIKE] still invoiced over £3k today! :j
    - Ease myself into it lightly.............

    Jx
Nothing to report as yet...give me a minute...!

Great to hear your news Milly! And happy anniversary (I think!) SW!:p

A nothing day at home again today - no money and nothing urgent to do so I'm trying to find things to do that don't cost anythng and will stop me from going bonkers.:o

    So today I will....
    • Walk the dogs for free exercise (done 1)
    • Hoover downstairs
    • All food from stores (lamb kebabs for OH, not sure what I'm having yet)
    • Clean living room and conservatory windows
    • Clean bathrooms
    • Put washing away if its dry
    • Wash down the bathroom tiles
    • Maybe weed front garden if the rain holds off (not looking hopeful)
    • Check banks
    • Check quidco
    • Do any surveys that come
    • Transfer money for boiler repair from savings
    • Have a LSD (if not a NSD)
Try not to go bonkers with boredom - not good at doing nothing!

I'm sure it'll be fine in the end what the news is... ok I still have a job but between me and another manager (who has been my mentor for the past 6 yrs) there is only one manager position & one asst manager, we have to interview for the positions. I feel ok about this. I'd rather be the manager but feel very weird about being my previous manager's manager.... Lots of my colleagues lost their job (49 out of 250 staff)

  • Morning everyone, well just:o

I had a lovely lie in this morning, had another restless night, so needed to catch up on my zzzzzzzz. Went to see psychiatric nurse yesterday diagnosed with post traumatic stress disorder following our car accident in may, this was my assessment appointment they will send me a propper appointment for about 5 months time, if my symptoms go away on their own would I cancel the appointment please. "Here is some literature it may help":(. On the upside I have discovered I haven't lost my sense of humour

So my lie in has saved me spending money this morning anyway
I have checked my online banking, dh wages gone in so I shall be list making and tweaking

I went to Mr Sainsburys yesterday where I had a voucher for £5 of £50 spend. Got a lot of bits so I can do baking etc as want to keep it cheap as possible this month as we go away before next payday

    Cleaning and washing today
    Look for ebay items
    Look at selling books
Couple of hours work this afternoon
    slice runner beans and freeze
Dinner from storecupboard, maybe curry or something spicy;)

Congratulations on your anniversary witch, we have been married for quite a significant number of years and my dh tells everyone he would have got less for murder:eek:

Good news Millie, fingers crossed it will stay away:j

    I shall return later
My finances are work in progress.
    Normal veiwing will resume shortly

I saw this on another website and thought it was quite useful-

5 easy ways to save money on your shopping
    * Costs for a weekly shop are going up. But there are some quick and easy things to make sure you keep your costs down-
    * Use money-off vouchers. Check out my voucher codes.
    * Don't go shopping when you're hungry- If you shop on an empty stomach, you'll end up buying foods you don't really need.
    * Do your Shopping Online- It is much easier to monitor what you spend if you can see your shopping basket cost mounting up.
    * Grow your own- Start your own vegetable patch and grow your own potatoes, lettuce, cucumber, onions etc. You will save a fortune on fresh fruit and veg.
    * Shop when products are reduced- You can often pick up some great bargains if you go shopping an hour or two before the store closes.

I've found that it really is the little things that help you make the big differences!! Shopping online will really save you some cash!!
