My son is going to be 17 in October and my husband currently drives an 02 BMW. We aslo have 2 other cars so he was thinking of trading thsi in for a Fiat Punto 1.9 TDI. We live in the country 16miles from nearest town so a lot of motorway driving. Here's the question- I am unsure how to go about getting insurance, should my husband be main driver with son added as an additional driver with his provisional licence. Also anybody got any ideas of prices and hints on reducing these???
If it was going to be too expensive for punto may just keep BMW.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Do some insurance quotations. Do it both as a named driver and on his own policy with you and/or hubby as named drivers and see what looks good.

This is one company that comes up quite often around here: http://www.collingwoodlearners.co.uk/
