Buyer offers buy it now price for listed auction

Does anyone know what the rules are regarding buyers offering a 'buy it now' price for an item, when you have not inserted 'buy it now' as an option?
I have been offered what I consider a good price for an item, and would be happy to sell. However, this would mean ending the item early, which I do not know if it's possible, or legal according to ebay rules.
Obviously they want you to stop the auction early, but I'm not sure that this is allowed by ebay?

it's up to you really
selling 'off ebay' is against the rules becase
A - there is no protection (there is next to none anyway, so you havent lost anything)
B - because ebay loose their fees
personally, if someone offers me a good price AND they pay up (with a non-bounceable payment method) BEFORE the auction ends, i'll cancle the auction and sell away, never had a problem before
as for legality, it's not, ebay don't like it because they make no money, plain and simplemoney saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

Yes there is no problem stopping an auction early. Ebay have a system set up for this . You can either insert a buy it now or sell to the higgest bidder as long as it is at the bidding amount you want. I personally always just end it early and sell to them through ebay. However all I would say is make sure your buyer is genuine. I email them first telling them I could sell to them on a buy it now and keep the auction open with a buy it now and auction format.
To inseer a buy it now just press revise your listing on your item that is listed page. The go to the first payment section and put in a buy it now price than just tell the intereasted buyer that it is available on a buy it now. Easy.
For the sell to the highest bidder auction ( as long as it has reached the bid you want- as it sells it at the price showing on the bidding at the moment ) go HERE and fill in the form .
Ebay only have a problem if you try to sell off ebay, they are quite happy if you end listings early, there is no penalty, as they get their fees earlier. Some prospective buyers might object if they are watching your auction but thats ebay !0 -
Id be wary of accepting offers to Buy It Now, especially if its an item you dont know much about.
I deal mainly in toys and a few years ago I picked up a little boxed figure of Zorro from the 70's that I thought was probably worth about £20-£30. I immediately had an offer from a buyer telling me I couldnt hope to get much more, but to save me the hassle he would give me £100 now. I was immediately suspicious and refused. In the end my little figure made £800 and was apparently very very rare indeed (He is now in a museum in New York!)
Ive also sold many "My Little Ponies" some of which again can fetch quite high prices. Im pretty clued up on what they sell for but I can usually guarantee getting a ridiculous offer to "Buy It Now" from an ebayer who hopes I dont know much about it.
Just make sure you research your item well if you are going to go down that route.
