Birthday present for a non girlie 16 year old

Options
I have not a clue what to get my niece for her 16th.

She likes music, gaming and is quite a homey girl who doesn't go out much. She hates dressing up and make up, hair stuff.

Want to get her somehing memorable for her 16th but need inspiration. Budget is up to £50 for the right thing I know she'll love.

Probably not really what you were after but I just bought my Nephew a copy of the Kama Sutra for his 16th, worth it just to see the look on his face!

Well done pigpen on not letting them get their ears pierced until now! My very sensible non chav - in fact the most removed from chav person you can think of, asked me when I was letting DS2 who is 8 get his ears pierced, and said she was contemplating getting her almost 3 year old sons ears pierced. She couldn't understand why I refused! :rotfl:

I was desperate for a dog for my 16th birthday (as my previous dog had died of cancer a couple of years beforehand). So mother bought me a large statue of a dog that looked like a garden ornament.

It was a white west highland terrier (same as my previous real life dog) sitting inside one of those old fashioned doctors type bags with its two paws hanging out the front of the bag with an expression on its face like someone had their foot up its behind. She was gutted I hated it having ordered it to be made especially for me and paid around £100 for it (this is going back over 10 years ago).

I have never fully forgiven her.

Anyways - I digress, sorry OP! How about a really nice fashionable watch (I still have and love the Storm watch my aunt got me for my 18th)?

why not take her bowling or some other activity like go-karting, paintballing (there's probably a voucher code on here somewhere to get it cheaper! it's always a laugh!) ... or a shopping trip ...primark is fab for young girls...she could get a stack of clothes for £30 and then on to one of the restaurants that always have BOGOF voucher on MSE..there's your other £20?

I have a very non girlie girl (18) She recently had her ears pierced too and for her birthday I bought her some stunning Swararsoski (sp) earrings that were really chunky and suited her down to the ground! They have some lovely stuff in their shop which would suit all kinds!

Is she into the vampire stuff as there is loads of that around too x
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

I figured they are not allowed to wear them at school so it is pointless having them done until they have left, we were having them done as part of her birthday but her exams had not finished so she had to wait.. bizarrely only my 9 year old has ever asked.. and she has nagged since she was about 2.. and I loathe boys and babies with theirs done.. they just look ridiculous!

ticket master voucher, i know it sounds boring but when her fav band releases tour dates and they have no money you will be the best auntie in the world

or for the gaming side of her subscription to her fav online game for 6 months.

I'd say concert tickets too (or a voucher for them) - my aunt bought me Madonna tickets for a special birthday and I had the most amazing time. It will be a day i'll always remember as she included everything.
