Changing car insurance to include business use/commuting to work?

Hi,

just got a new job which i'm not sure whether to use public transport for or my car- in london but sometimes a car would make it easier

does anyone know how much my car insurance would increase by?

i'm female, 22, been insured since my 17th birthday so currently have 5 and a half years no claims, in november paid for this year's insurance, was £400 3rd party fire and theft (shopped around A LOT was really p***** off because it didn't change from the year before!)- one no fault claim 4.5 years ago

if anyone could help would really appreciate it! don't wanna call up and check until i have an idea

    £37.50. Or maybe £1 million.

The only way to find out is to ring your insurers. What on earth are you frightened of?!

    ok....

i'm not frightened- just a bit cautious, i once called an insurance company to ask a very general question and realised a few weeks later they'd credit checked me which was annoying..

    thanks for the replies

It cost me £8 when I added 20,000 miles of business travel to my policy. Always had commute so don't know what that adds.

As others have said the only way is to ask but generally the cost of Class 1 is pretty low (<£20/<10% in my case)

Slightly off topic but why were you annoyed about being credit checked?
