Carcraft chertsey mis-sold NAC guarantee

I have been researching Carcraft as a friend of mine is looking for a car but does not have access to the Internet.
I have never purchased a car from Carcraft, but have had my car serviced, MOT'd and had it's winter health checks done at their service centre. As I have found their prices are competitive and they are local to my place of work. I can drop my car off walk into work and pick it up when I finish. As the service I have received has always been excellent, I thought I would look a them for my friend.
What I have found on a lot of these forums, are many people complaining about Carcraft, but when you read further into their complaints it is apparent that these people have not done their research prior to buying, and/or not read what they are signing for. I have even seen a number of replys where people are Carcraft bashing it seems for the fun of it. One post is even complaining that a member of staff from Carcraft has contacted someone who was not happy, in a bid to try and help. It seems Carcraft can not do right for doing wrong.
I will be passing the information I have found onto my friend, and my main advice to her will be, dont sign anything before reading it and if you think you have found a great deal, come home think about it, if it is such a great deal it will be there tomorrow.0 -
I am a little confused by this. If you are paying for a 5 year warranty then it would seem to be an insurance policy.
Carcraft is authorised by the FSA - its entry is here.
However, it shows that Carcraft is not permitted to hold client money, so presumably it is underwritten by somebody else, which should show on the policy document.
However, since you allege misselling and Carcraft is regulated by the FSA itself, it needs to deal with the complaint in accordance with the usual FSA rules and give you the chance to go to FOS if need be. They should have a Complaints Procedure for this and credit complaints.
If their posters on this thread need help they can always PM me.0 -
Thanks for the information regarding FSA I have printed it off to keep on 'file'. I am actually in constant communication with Consumer Direct who have advised me on all the steps I have so far taken. You say you are confused!!!!! Not a patch on what I'm feeling!!0

Seems to me that you havent read enough of the many many forums!!! Or are we all as stupid as you seem to make us out to be???? You are in the minute minority, and if you honestly say that you have sat there on any financial transaction and read all of the small print then you are remarkable, or possibly working in Rochdale..........
Anyone that signs a large financial agreement without bothering to read and understand what they are signing IS stupid. If not sure take it home a bring it back the next day after you have read it.0 -
Maybe my comments will help others in the future.
NEVER SIGN ANYTHING UNLESS YOU HAVE READ AND UNDERSTAND IT.
It really would save a lot of grief.
I truly cannot understand why you can think it is sensible to sign an agreement without knowing what it is, please explain to me, I would be very grateful.0 -
To be honest I just responded to your previous post but deleted as i just cant be bothered. You seem to me to be a bit of a wind up merchant, who wears blinkers, so for that reason i do not see how speaking with you can possibly benefit me. But, thank you for the OBVIOUS advice!!!! You just dont get the situation within the showroom or the tactics used, which is why i chose not to participate any further with you.0

I have bought cars from a showroom, in fact I have been to the Bluewater Carcraft. I have NEVER signed an agreement on the first visit, I will ask them to print it out and will them take it home and return with it the next day if I am happy with it.
I truly cannot understand why people do not all do that and would be very grateful if someone could explain to me why anyone does.
Sorry, I am not trying to wind anyone up, I am just genuinely confused.0 -
OMG! I went through the exact same scenerio as your daughter did...I was livid afterwards realising I had been conned. The 5 year warranty is a rip off and I should never have signed for it. I'm usually not easily fooled but I was! The tactics they used including long waits, ...eurgh am recapping in my head what happened! I wish I was not taken in by it all.
It's awful. I am now looking to pay back the loan as quickly as possible as I feel gutted for falling for their crap. I hate them for the nonsense they put me and my family through on a rainy day where I had to collect my daughter and drive back to them to sign things off. So stupid. That's what I feel. Anyway - no carcraft ever again!!!
If there was a way to create a case against them count me in!0 -

Yep - agree. Wish I'd followed it!
I made the decision to buy a car - we needed to trade in 2 cars as they were getting on a bit and thought I would go in and agree there and then. I had a budget in my head and a deposit + 2 trade in cars.
When we decided on the car we agreed the price and everything was fine. When it came to signing the papers they decdied to give me a talk about the 5 year guarantee thingy at the same time. They gave me all sorts of scare stories about not having it etc etc. I remember saying can I think about it and come back to you on that afterwards - his reply was along the lines that it was only for today and that was it.
I stupidly believed him the !!!!!!!.0
