Argon gas filled double glazing

How do i know if my new windows have been filled with argon gas. Are the units sealed with in an argon gas chamber or pumped in when sealed. Any ideas.
I have requested the company to confirm this but they have not replied. Many thanks

  • Hi you are right to question about the argon gas
The company who I do some work for at the moment have reps that blatantly lie to the customer and say our units are argon filled--- they are not--
I would be foolish if I told the customer this and do myself out of work
If you look around the spacer bar inbetween the glass you should see a black round dot of sealant about the size of a pen top this is usualy a tell tale mark that the glass has been filled with gas
There may be other methods of doing this but I havent come accross any in my 28 years in the industry, and am not a know it all
I still learn something new quite regularly
    Cheers and all the best

The best insulator is a vacuum.

Ours (as far as I know) 80% Nitrogen 20% other gasses.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.

I have just had new windows fitted which are claimed to be argon filled.
I have pointed out to the supplier that there are no visible plugged holes in the spacer bar and he claims that they are filled without making a hole in the spacer - does anyone know if this is possible?
(The windows are "B" rated - they very reluctantly issued a certificate but I am still withholding final payment despite heavy pressure).
    Any advice much appreciated.
